What I’m Up to Lately

Hey everyone! So there has been a lot going on for me lately so I thought I would take the time to explain where I'm at with personal training and everything else.  Since I graduated college last May I have had a number of different jobs and other stuff I've been doing.  My first job was a personal training job at Boston Sports Clubs in Lynnfield, MA, which I just officially quit on Monday.  It has been a long time coming that I was quitting (basically since January) but I finally handed all my clients over to other trainers.  One of the main reasons I left BSC is because of the management and the pressure that was put on trainers to make money and only make money.  Long story short is that I want to help people, not just make money for a big company and myself.  So I left in hopes of starting my own personal training/ blogging business dedicated to helping people reach their health and fitness goals.  But other than BSC I have trained at another studio that shut down, worked the front desk at a pilates studio, and worked at the restaurant that I have been at forever.  Anyway, now that I am completely done at BSC I feel like I can share my latest personal training job!

I will now be training out of a place in Danvers, MA called Fit to be Thai.  This is a MMA based gym (something I don't know anything about but will hopefully be learning more about soon!) but it also has a great personal training space and a ton of brand new equipment that I can not wait to start using!  I love that I get to be my own boss and not part of a big corporation.  I charge people per hour and my clients can also buy monthly training memberships and training packages so it works out much better for everyone involved.  If you are interested in a FREE personal training session and a chance to work with me visit my train with me page and fill out the form and we can discuss times and rates!

Another exciting thing is that I have a challenging summer project ahead of me.  I'll give you some background information first, my summer job and in between jobs job has always been a restaurant in my hometown.  I work with some pretty awesome people and one of them agreed to be my summer project.  His name is Bob and he has some weight to lose, he isn't super motivated but he wants to lose weight.  For as long as I have known him he has been trying to lose weight and become healthier.  I have always tried to give him exercise and nutrition tips but I also don't ever want to try and help people that don't want to be helped.  So when I asked Bob to be my summer project (and yeah, I did word it like that) and he said yes I was incredibly excited! I am excited for this because Bob is a great guy and I am excited to help him reach a goal that he has had for so long.  Also, I know that he can make amazing changes as long as he sticks to a program and really works for it.  So we had our first workout Monday night after work, we went down to the track, briskly walked 200 meters, then stopped to do 10 squats and 15 wall push-ups and we repeated that until we had walked a mile.  It was a good first workout, not too challenging but it definitely got Bob's heart rate up there.  While we were walking I asked Bob what his goals were, he told me that he wants to lose 50lbs by the end of the summer.  I told him that I thought that was definitely a stretch goal, but not completely unrealistic if he's dedicated and incredibly disciplined.  I will make sure to keep everyone updated with Bob's Progress as the summer continues!

And finally, another mini vacation in store for Memorial Day weekend! My travel buddy Lily and I, along with some other friends are headed to Montréal on Thursday! So I will make sure to keep tabs on the healthy and fun places to go while in Montréal! Until next time! Thanks everyone for reading! 🙂
