My name is Taylor Merloni, the girl behind healthier travels. I am 23 years old and I live on the north shore of Massachusetts, I am a personal trainer and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Clearly, I am not a writer, I am just a girl that loves exercise, eating healthy (and not so healthy) and of course, traveling.
My goals in life are to travel, adventure and to help others. I am starting this blog in hopes of helping some people live a healthier, more active and adventurous life but if that doesn’t work I want to at least have a place where I can document my own health and travel experiences.
I got to this point in my life with a lot of help from the people around me, first and mostly my parents. I have the most amazing parents on the planet, I know everyone says that but I really do. My parents are the reason why I live an active lifestyle why I love traveling and the reason that I was able to go to college, graduate and become a personal trainer. So thanks for everything, Mom and Dad. Growing up we were always doing something, hiking, biking, snowboarding, running (yeah my mom took me on my first trail run and I cried the whole way). My point is that I’m active not because I feel like I have to but because I don’t know any other way to live my life and my parents are to thank for that.
My stand on health and exercise is this, and just this.. Do what you love, because you love it and eat what you love because it helps fuel your body to do what you love to do. Now that means to find something you love to do that involves moving because our bodies are made to move and there is plenty of scientific research that supports that we are healthier, and we live longer and higher quality lives when we move. I also think that it is important to eat healthy, eat your vegetables and find what works for you.
Finding what works for you takes A LOT of trial and error, believe me. I have been a vegetarian, vegan, tried eating paleo, sugar free and you get the point, I’m 23 and still trying to figure out this whole balance thing, how can I eat the foods I love and feel good about myself? What I’ve figured out so far is to fall in love with healthy foods, and then also let yourself have some not so healthy foods, it’s not that hard. Through this blog I will give you some tips and recipes that make eating easier, healthier and more enjoyable and also offer personal training services to guide you through safe and effective exercises.
I hope you enjoyed my first post, and if your anything like me then I lost you half way through the first paragraph because there were just too many words and not enough pictures, but at some point I ask you to read this all the way through and I thank everyone for their attention.
